Privacy Policy for APPNEST VPN. No accounts, no browsing logs — your encryption key never leaves your phone, and we do not record the sites or apps you reach through the tunnel.

Introduction

This is the Privacy Policy for the APPNEST VPN app, developed by APPNEST. APPNEST VPN routes your internet traffic through an encrypted WireGuard tunnel to a server in the location you pick. This policy explains exactly what the app sends us, what our servers keep, and what we deliberately do not keep.

A VPN is only worth using if you know what it records, so the important part is stated up front: APPNEST VPN has no user accounts and no sign-in, and we do not log the websites, apps, or addresses you connect to through the tunnel.

What We Do Not Log

This is the list that matters most, so it comes before everything else:

  • No browsing history. We do not record the websites, domains, or apps you reach through the tunnel.
  • No DNS query logs. We do not keep a record of the names your device looks up.
  • No traffic content. We do not inspect, store, or analyse what travels through the tunnel.
  • No destination IPs. We do not store the addresses your device connects to.
  • No per-session or per-connection history. Usage is recorded only as a daily byte total, described below.
  • No name, email, phone number, or contacts. The app never asks for them and has no field to enter them.

Your Encryption Keys

When you connect, your device generates a WireGuard key pair. Only the public half is ever sent to APPNEST — the private half, the one that actually decrypts your traffic, is created on your phone and stays there.

This is a structural guarantee, not a promise about our good behaviour: our servers have never held the key that would decrypt your traffic, so a breach of our database could not expose it.

What the App Sends Us

APPNEST VPN has no signup screen. On first launch the app registers itself and receives a token, and that token is what identifies the installation from then on. The registration contains:

  • A random device identifier generated by the app — not your Android ID, advertising ID, or any hardware serial.
  • Device model and name (for example “Samsung SM-A546E”), so support and crash patterns can be made sense of.
  • App version, so we know which builds are still in use and when an update must be required.
  • An invite code, if the service is in invite-only mode at the time you install.
  • Your public WireGuard key when you connect, as described above.

What Our Servers Keep

Against that installation record, our servers keep the minimum needed to run the service:

  • Data used: a running byte count for the current day and month, and a daily total per location. This is what makes an allowance enforceable and what tells us the average data a user needs.
  • Tunnel allocation: the location you are assigned to, your public key, and the private tunnel address inside our network (for example 10.66.0.7). This is the server’s peer configuration — without it there is no tunnel.
  • Last activity: when the app last checked in, and the timestamp of the last successful handshake.
  • Your connecting IP address, along with the country and network provider derived from it. This is kept for abuse handling and to spot bulk automated signups. It is the address you connect from, never the addresses you connect to.
  • Plan status: whether the installation is on the free or premium tier and until when.

Usage is recorded deliberately coarsely — bytes per device per day. Per-session or per-destination records would amount to a log of where each user goes, which is precisely what a VPN must not keep.

Locations and Shared Addresses

Each location runs on its own server with a dedicated static IP address, which is shared by everyone connected to that location at the time. Websites you visit see that server’s address instead of yours. They may still identify you by other means — an account you sign in to, a cookie, or a browser fingerprint — and no VPN can prevent that.

Payments

If a premium plan is purchased, the payment is processed by Google Play. Your card details never reach APPNEST. We receive only the purchase confirmation Google provides, which we store against the installation so the premium tier can be applied. We do not receive your name, billing address, or payment method from Google.

Permissions We Use

  • VPN connection: Granted by you through Android’s own system dialog. Android will not let any app open a tunnel without it, and it shows the VPN key icon in your status bar for as long as the tunnel is up.
  • Internet & network state: To reach our backend for the location list, your allowance, and service notices.

APPNEST VPN does not request your location (GPS), contacts, camera, microphone, storage, or the list of apps installed on your device.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data, and we do not run advertising SDKs or third-party analytics inside APPNEST VPN. The services involved in running it are: Google Play for distribution, updates and purchases, our own hosting provider for the backend and tunnel servers, and an IP geolocation lookup used solely to turn a connecting IP address into an approximate country.

We may disclose information if we are legally compelled to do so — but we can only ever hand over what we actually hold, and as set out above, that does not include your browsing activity.

Data Deletion

Uninstalling APPNEST VPN removes the app’s token and your private key from your device, and your tunnel allocation is revoked once it stops checking in.

To have the installation record and its usage counters deleted from our servers, email [email protected] from the device in question, mentioning your device model and the approximate install date so we can identify the record. Purchase records may be retained where tax or accounting law requires it.

Children’s Privacy

APPNEST VPN is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app collects no personal profile from anyone, including minors.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
