Chemical Data Sources
PubChem Database
Chem Nest retrieves chemical compound information from PubChem, a free chemistry database maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). This includes:
- Chemical structures and molecular formulas
- IUPAC names and synonyms
- Molecular weights and properties
- SMILES and InChI identifiers
Important: Your searches are sent directly to PubChem's servers, not to APPNEST. Please refer to PubChem's privacy policy for their data handling practices.
User Data Collection
What We DO NOT Collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Search history or query data
- Location information
- Device identifiers
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Exported files or shared content
App Preferences:
The app stores minimal preferences locally on your device, such as:
- Theme preference (dark/light mode)
- App settings and configurations
These preferences are stored locally and never transmitted to external servers.
Data Processing & Storage
Local Processing:
- All chemical data processing occurs on your device
- Search results are temporarily cached for performance
- Exported files are created locally and not uploaded anywhere
- No data is stored on remote servers
Data Retention:
- Search results are temporarily cached during app sessions
- Cache is cleared when the app is closed
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data
Third-Party Services
PubChem API:
When you search for chemical compounds, requests are made directly to PubChem's public API. These requests may include:
- The chemical name or identifier you searched for
- Your IP address (as part of the standard web request)
- Basic technical information about the request
Google Play Services:
Standard Google Play Services may collect basic analytics as per Google's privacy policy.
Your Rights & Choices
- App Permissions: Chem Nest requires minimal permissions, primarily network access for API calls
