Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for the Land Surveyor app. This policy explains what the app does on your device, what limited data is sent off your device, and who it is shared with.
Land Surveyor App Privacy
Key points about how the app handles your surveying work
Calculations Run On Your Device
Surveying calculations and coordinate transformations are computed locally on your device. We do not upload your calculation inputs or results to our servers.
No Account Required
All 60 surveying tools work without an account. We never ask for your name or phone number. An email address is needed only if you choose to use the optional paid Benchmark Navigation Pro module, or if you choose to contact us.
The App Does Use the Internet
The app connects to the internet for maps, the in-app updates feed, analytics, security checks, ads, and the optional cloud and AI features described below.
You Control Your Files
Importing and exporting files (CSV, Excel, DXF, KML, LandXML, PDF) happens only when you choose it, through your device's own file picker and share sheet.
How We Handle Your Data
What stays on your device, and what leaves it
Surveying & Calculation Data
What it includes:
- Coordinates, transformations, bearings, and distances
- Traverse, resection, and intersection computations
- Curve geometry, level book, and elevation data
- Measured GPS points, project notes, and annotated photos
How it is handled:
- Computed and stored locally on your device
- Not uploaded to our servers, except in the optional Benchmark Navigation Pro cloud feature described below
- Shared or exported only when you explicitly choose to
- Deleted when you delete it in-app or uninstall the app
RTK Survey & NTRIP Corrections (Optional)
The optional RTK Survey feature connects to an external GNSS/RTK receiver you own and, if you choose, to an NTRIP correction service (caster) that you configure. It is used only when you open the RTK screen and set it up.
What it involves:
- The app reads position data (standard NMEA-0183) from your receiver over Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi
- To receive corrections, the app connects to the NTRIP caster you enter and, for network/VRS mounts, sends the receiver's approximate position to that caster so it can return corrections for your area
- The NTRIP host, port, mountpoint, username, and password you enter are your caster's credentials — stored locally on your device only
- RTK points, jobs, and fix status you record are stored locally on your device, the same as your other surveying work
Important:
- The NTRIP caster is a third-party service that you choose and sign in to — it is not operated by APPNEST, and we do not receive your position, your NTRIP credentials, or your RTK data
- If you never use RTK Survey, no receiver is connected and nothing is sent to any caster
App Settings & Preferences
What we store:
- Unit preferences (meters, feet, yards; area units)
- Coordinate and distance precision settings
- Favorite and recently used tools
- App configuration and consent choices
Storage method:
- Stored locally on your device only, in Android app storage
- Used solely for app functionality
- Not sold, and not shared with third parties
- Removed when the app is uninstalled
Diagnostics, Identifiers & Security
What may be transmitted:
- Device and app identifiers (for example app instance ID and advertising identifier)
- App version, device model, operating system, language, timezone, and network state
- Approximate IP-based region information (such as country, city, and network provider)
- Crash diagnostics and operational events
- A Google Play Integrity token, used to confirm the app is a genuine, unmodified install
How it is used:
- To keep the app reliable, detect crashes, and improve performance
- To deliver the in-app updates feed and notify you of new versions
- To protect the app and our servers against tampering, fraud, and abuse
- To support analytics and ad delivery through the SDK partners listed below
Import, Export & Sharing
Supported formats:
- Import: CSV, Excel (.xlsx), KML, LandXML, and DXF files you select
- Export: Excel, PDF, CSV, and DXF
- Sharing via the Android share sheet (email, cloud drive, messaging, and so on)
Your control:
- Files are read only when you pick them in the system file picker
- Nothing is imported, exported, or uploaded automatically
- You choose what to include and where it goes
Benchmark Navigation Pro (Optional, Paid)
Benchmark Navigation Pro is an optional paid module. It is the one feature that stores your surveying data on our servers, so that your benchmark jobs are available across sessions and devices.
- To use it you sign in with your email address, which we verify with a one-time code. The email identifies your workspace so your jobs stay yours across devices.
- Benchmark jobs and the benchmark points you import from CSV are stored in your workspace on our servers, together with your email and a device identifier
- This happens only if you purchase and use this module
- If you never use it, we never receive your email address and no surveying data is sent to our servers
- Email us at [email protected] to delete your workspace, cloud jobs, and email address
Email Address — Optional, Two Cases Only
The app never requires an email address to use its surveying tools. We only receive one in these two optional cases, and only because you chose to provide it:
- Benchmark Navigation Pro: if you buy and sign in to the optional paid module (see above), your email identifies your cloud workspace
- Contacting us: if you send feedback or a support message from the app and choose to include your email so we can reply
How we treat it:
- Used only for that purpose — your workspace, or replying to you
- Never sold, and never shared with advertisers or any other third party
- Not used for marketing unless you separately subscribe to our newsletter
- Email [email protected] at any time to have it deleted
Purchases & Subscriptions
The app offers an optional monthly subscription to remove ads, and an optional paid Benchmark Navigation Pro module. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing.
- We never see or store your card, bank, or payment details
- The app receives only a purchase confirmation from Google Play to unlock the feature
- Users who previously bought the one-time ad removal keep it permanently
- Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime in the Google Play Store
Data Security & Protection
How your surveying work is kept secure
Local Processing
Surveying calculations run on your device — the coordinates and data you enter are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers (except optional cloud features you choose to use).
Encrypted in Transit
All data that does leave your device — diagnostics, the updates feed, cloud jobs, and AI requests — is sent over HTTPS.
Tamper Protection
Google Play Integrity is used to confirm the app is a genuine, unmodified install, protecting you and our services from tampered copies.
AI Assistant Feature (Optional)
Important information about the optional AI-powered help feature
Overview
Land Surveyor includes an optional AI Assistant that helps you understand and use the app's surveying tools. It is powered by OpenAI's API and requires you to provide your own OpenAI API key. If you never set up a key, the feature stays off and sends nothing.
What Data is Involved
When you use the AI Assistant, the following is involved:
- Your messages: the questions you type into the AI Assistant chat
- Conversation history: earlier messages, sent for context
- Screen context: which tool or screen you are on, so answers are relevant
- Your OpenAI API key: stored only on your device
Where It Is Sent
OpenAI
- Your messages, conversation history, and screen context are sent directly from your device to OpenAI to generate a response
- OpenAI's handling of that data is governed by their policy: OpenAI Privacy Policy
- Please review OpenAI's privacy practices before enabling this feature
Our servers
- Your OpenAI API key is never sent to our servers
- We do not store or have access to your API key or your AI conversations
Storage, Retention & Your Control
- Your API key and conversation history are stored in the app's private storage on your device
- You can clear the conversation history at any time in the AI Assistant chat
- Removing your API key in AI Setup disables the feature completely
- OpenAI may retain data according to their own retention policies
- All requests are sent over HTTPS
Costs and Content
- OpenAI charges for API usage based on their pricing; you are responsible for those costs
- We charge no additional fee for the AI Assistant
- AI-generated answers can be wrong — always verify results against your own professional judgement
- We recommend parental supervision for users under 18, as AI content is not age-filtered
Third-Party Services
The services the app relies on, and what they process
Google Firebase
Analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration, and push notifications. Processes device and diagnostic data under Google's privacy terms.
Google Maps & Play Services
Map display for the GPS and stakeout tools, plus Google Play Integrity for tamper protection and Google Play Billing for purchases.
Advertising Partners
Ads are served through Google AdMob and its mediation partners, which currently include ironSource (Unity), InMobi, and Meta Audience Network. These partners may process device and advertising identifiers, coarse location, and related signals for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. Removing ads with the optional subscription stops ad serving.
OpenAI
Used only if you enable the optional AI Assistant with your own API key. See the AI Assistant section above.
NTRIP Correction Services (You Choose)
Used only if you set up the optional RTK Survey feature. The NTRIP caster is a third-party service you select and enter credentials for; the app connects to it to stream corrections and, for network/VRS mounts, sends your receiver's approximate position. These services are not operated by APPNEST and are governed by their own terms. APPNEST does not receive your position, credentials, or RTK data.
APPNEST Servers
Our own servers (appnest.live) deliver the in-app updates feed, version checks, and app diagnostics, verify Play Integrity tokens, and store Benchmark Navigation Pro cloud jobs for users of that paid module.
Your Rights & Control
You stay in control of your data and how the app is used
Data Deletion
How to delete your data from Land Surveyor
Data on your device — delete it yourself
Your surveying work (calculations, measured points, project notes, annotated photos, settings, favourites, and any AI Assistant history and API key) is stored only on your device. You can remove it at any time, with no request to us:
- Delete individual items inside the app
- Clear the AI Assistant conversation in the AI Assistant chat, and remove your API key in AI Setup
- Or use Android Settings → Apps → Land Surveyor → Storage → Clear data
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of it permanently
Data on our servers — request deletion
We hold server-side data only if you used one of the two optional features described above. To have it erased, email us:
Put "Land Surveyor data deletion request" in the subject and send it from the email address you used in the app.
What we delete:
- Your Benchmark Navigation Pro workspace — all cloud jobs, imported benchmark points, your email address and the linked device identifier
- Any feedback or support message you sent us, including the email address you gave for a reply
Good to know:
- Requests are actioned within 30 days, and we confirm by email once done
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- There is nothing to delete if you never used Benchmark Navigation Pro and never contacted us — we hold no email address or surveying data for you
- Anonymous analytics and diagnostics are not linked to your identity and cannot be traced back to an individual user

Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or in applicable laws. Updates will be posted on this page. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Current Version: 5.1 (Effective July 25, 2026)
What changed:Added disclosures for the new optional RTK Survey feature: connecting to an external GNSS/RTK receiver over Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi (a new Nearby Devices / Bluetooth permission), and connecting to an NTRIP correction service you configure — including that, for network/VRS mounts, your receiver's approximate position is sent to that third-party caster, while your NTRIP credentials and RTK data stay on your device and are never received by APPNEST. Updated the Location and Foreground Service permission descriptions accordingly.
Version 5.0 (July 12, 2026): Aligned this policy with the current app. Clarified that the app does use the internet. Added Camera, Notifications, Foreground Service, and Billing permissions; Google Play Integrity, Google Play Billing, Benchmark Navigation Pro cloud jobs, file import formats, and the full list of advertising partners. Removed the storage permission section, which the app no longer requests. Disclosed that an email address is collected in two optional cases only.
