Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for Phone Checker. Every test runs on your device — nothing from a test is uploaded.
Introduction
This is the Privacy Policy for the Phone Checker app, developed by APPNEST. Phone Checker tests a phone’s hardware — screen, speakers, microphone, sensors, cameras, buttons, GPS and battery — and produces a health report you can share, typically when buying or selling a used phone.
The principle is simple: test results never leave your device unless you choose to share them. There are no accounts and no sign-in. The only information sent to us is basic device and usage information, described below.
Your Test Results and Reports
When you run a check, the results and the report image are created and stored entirely on your device. We never receive them.
- Not uploaded: No test result, score, or report is ever sent to our servers or to anyone else.
- Sharing is your choice: A report leaves your phone only when you tap Share and pick an app yourself. Where it goes after that is governed by whichever app you chose.
- Saving: Tapping Save writes the report image to your own photo gallery.
Camera Permission
Used only to run the front and rear camera tests, which show a live preview so you can see whether the lens works.
- No photo or video is captured, saved, or transmitted.
- The camera is active only while that test is on screen, and is released the moment you move on.
Microphone Permission
Used only for the microphone test, which shows a live loudness bar so you can confirm the mic responds to your voice.
- No audio is recorded, stored, or uploaded. The app reads the incoming sound level and discards it immediately.
- The microphone is released as soon as the test screen closes.
Location Permission
Used only for the GPS test, to confirm the phone can obtain a satellite fix.
- Your coordinates are shown on screen during the test and are not stored or transmitted.
- Location is not included in the shared report.
- Location updates stop when you leave the test.
Fingerprint Test
The fingerprint test uses Android’s own system prompt to confirm the sensor recognises a finger. Fingerprint data is handled entirely by Android and secure hardware — the app never sees, receives, or stores any biometric data. It only learns whether the system reported a successful match.
Information We Do Collect
When the app opens, it sends basic technical information to our server so we can see which devices and versions the app runs on, and support it properly:
- Device model, manufacturer, and device name
- Android version, app version, and install/update dates
- Language, timezone, and network type (Wi-Fi or mobile)
- A device identifier (Android ID)
- Approximate location — city, country and network provider — derived from your IP address
This information is used only for analytics and support. It is not sold, and it is not combined with any test results, because we never receive those.
Advertising
Phone Checker is free and supported by occasional full-screen ads served by Google AdMob. There are no banner ads, and an ad can only appear after a completed check — never during a test.
- Google may use your device’s advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- In the EEA and UK we show Google’s consent form, and ads are only requested if you allow it.
- You can remove ads entirely with the optional monthly subscription.
Subscription and Payments
The optional “Remove Ads” subscription is billed by Google Play. All payment details are handled by Google — we never see or store your card or billing information. The app only learns whether an ad-free entitlement is active. You can cancel anytime in your Google Play subscriptions.
What the App Cannot Tell You
For transparency: the report reflects only what the phone reports to software. It cannot detect water damage, motherboard faults, or the true remaining life of a battery, because Android does not expose that information to apps. Please treat the report as one useful check, not a guarantee about a device.
Children
Phone Checker is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
