Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for WiFi Manager. Your router password and your list of devices never leave your phone.

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Introduction

This is the Privacy Policy for the WiFi Manager app, developed by APPNEST. WiFi Manager shows the details of the Wi-Fi network your phone is on, finds your router, opens the router’s settings page, and on supported routers lets you sign in to see the devices connected to your Wi-Fi.

There are no accounts and no sign-in to APPNEST. The app talks to your router directly over your own Wi-Fi.

Your Router Password

When you sign in to your router in the app, your router username and password are used only to talk to your router on your local network.

  • Never sent to us: your router password is never sent to APPNEST or to anyone else.
  • Saved only if you choose: if you tick “Remember me on this phone”, your router username and password are saved on your phone, encrypted with a key kept in Android’s secure key store. They are left out of phone backups, and you can remove them at any time with “Forget saved password”. If you do not tick the box, the password is kept in memory only while you are signed in.
  • On routers that support it, the app signs in with a challenge-response method, so the password itself does not travel over the network even to the router.

Information From Your Router

After you sign in, the app can read information from your router, such as the list of connected devices (their names, IP addresses and MAC addresses) and your Wi-Fi name.

  • This information is shown on your screen only.
  • It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.

Location Permission

Android shows the name of your Wi-Fi network (SSID) only to apps that have location permission. WiFi Manager asks for it only to show your Wi-Fi name.

  • The app does not read your GPS position or track where you are.
  • Your Wi-Fi name is not stored or sent anywhere.
  • The permission is optional. Everything else in the app works without it.

Local Network Access

To reach your router (for example at 192.168.1.1), the app needs access to your local network. It uses this access only to talk to your router, and does not scan or contact other devices on your network.

Connection Check

When you run the connection check, the app tests your connection step by step. It contacts your router, opens a short connection to two public internet addresses (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8) without sending any data, and loads Google’s connection test page (the same page Android itself uses).

  • The results are shown on your screen only and are not sent to us.
  • Like any website, Google and the owners of those addresses can see your IP address when the app connects to them.

Device Names You Save

Nicknames you give to devices, the “my device” mark, and when each device was first and last seen are saved only on your phone. They are never uploaded, and they are removed if you uninstall the app or clear its data.

Device Information

When the app opens, it sends basic technical information to our server so we can see which phones and versions the app runs on, and support it properly:

  • Device model, manufacturer, and device name
  • Android version, app version, and install/update dates
  • Language, timezone, and network type (Wi-Fi or mobile)
  • A device identifier (Android ID)
  • Your IP address, and the approximate location we work out from it: city, country and network provider

This information is used only for analytics and support, and it is not sold. It contains nothing about your router, your Wi-Fi or your devices, and it is kept separate from the router reports below.

Anonymous Router Reports

To learn which routers people use, and which ones we should support next, the app sends us an anonymous router report when it finds a router and when a sign-in succeeds or fails. The report contains only:

  • The router brand and model the app detected
  • Details that the router’s login page shows to anyone, such as the page title and server name
  • Which router profile the app used, and whether signing in worked (with the app’s own error message if it did not)
  • The app version and router catalog version
  • Your country, worked out from your IP address

The report does not include any device identifier, your Wi-Fi name, any IP or MAC address, your list of devices, or your router username or password. We do not store your IP address with the report, and we do not link reports to your device information. This information is not sold.

Router Settings and Updates

The app downloads an up-to-date list of supported routers from appnest.live, so new routers can be supported without an app update. It also asks our server whether a newer version of the app is required, and then uses Google Play’s own update screen. Like any website, our server receives your IP address when the app connects, and uses it to protect the server from abuse.

Contacting Us From the App

The Contact us screen opens WhatsApp or your email app with a message already started. It includes your phone model, Android and app version, and, if one was found, your router’s brand and model, so we can help faster. Nothing is sent until you press send yourself, and you can edit or remove any of it first. The message is then handled by WhatsApp or your email provider.

Children

WiFi Manager is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
